Greetings diasporans, my Names Frank Wesley Mugyenyi-tumwesigye (Aka Frank Wesley). I'm the founder and creative designer of Frank Wesley Africa.
I design bold and Exciting African Inspired Clothing, up-cycling, jewellery and accesories. Our products currently range from Ankara-outfits handmade in Uganda to Leather Jackets tailor made to fit from Ethiopia. And Of-course our Semi-precious Stone Beaded Jewelry that's detailed with Stirling silver accents and pendants all with an African twist.
Recently Launched our A-P Biker Jacket collection, as a theme I wanted to attach a touch of African history to each Jacket Style.
As the jackets are Handmade in Ethiopia it was only right that we highlight some of there rich history paying close attention to their great leaders, powerful female ruler and national land marks
A narrative was written for Africa with the intention of mental oppression, confusion and control. Truly this has had a psychological effect on the shared understanding and identity of an entire continental culture. I believe the reason our history was tampered with was because of its power to empower.
I believe there is a compelling transformation that can come from discovering powerful historical truths about your own culture, your ancestor's, your continent. Be it positive or negative, it can fuel and motivate an individual, a group of people, a nation or even a continent to be empowered. In my own life these very things played a big role when it came finding my own strength to not just believe in myself with a profound understanding of my personal identity, but to believe in my people and in my continent. Infact, an understanding of my culture and history allowed me to develop a sense of duty and service towards our (Africa's) progression. We all have a unique role to play when it comes to ‘Africa's new narrative’, and it has a connection to our past.
So, whether male, female, whatever your race or creed, every time you put on your FW A-P Biker Jacket, we want you to feel like your carrying the very "Fabric" of African history and royalty on your shoulders.
